Greetings!
Can you believe it's February already??? This year is
moving along pretty quickly and so are the plans for our new
retail store "Room For Improvement".
Please check out the updates at the bottom of this
newsletter for our progress on the store. We will be adding
information as we go to keep you informed.
Also, our newsletter is changing slightly. We will be
dropping some articles to make room for more relevent
decorating articles, adding a calendar of events for the
store, as well as informing you of specials and sales.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! And happy February
birthday's to my hubby, mother-in-law, sister, niece, 2
aunts, brother-in-law, and MYSELF! :)

Quick Tips for Hanging Pictures |
 |
|
The following are some picture hanging ideas to add
a designer look and create some visual impact:
• Sometimes one dramatic large picture over a
mantle is better than a lot of little ones.
• Use the similar color or style of frames
together to unify the look in a grouping.
• To add interest to your décor use some of the
smaller wall shelves that come in 24’, 30” or 42” to
hang pictures and/or décor. You can even just lean a
few pictures on the shelf with other accessories for
more interest.
• Here is a quick tip for a wall grouping that
includes pictures and/or collectibles. A good idea
is to trace your pictures and make templates from
newspapers. Experiment with the layout that you like
the best on the floor. Then tack the templates on
the wall before you hang your pictures. This will
save you a lot of time and frustration.
• In a grouping it is a good idea if you can use
a theme to add some real visual interest. For
example if you have a lot of landscape pictures of
the beach group them together for more impact. Do
some experimenting today!

Before And After Interior Redesign |
 |
|
The problem: A medium sized family room in
search of balance and a focus with only two
available walls to create arrangements.
The solution: The redesign showcases
collectibes relating to the family's interests and
heritage. Bringing in the corner cabinet (from the
hallway) as the accent piece helps to bridge the gap
between the fireplace and the wall arrangement. A
new l- shaped seating combination allowed for better
traffic flow into the room.

Decorating Resolutions
|
|
|
|
We all make new years resolutions, like dieting, and
most of us don’t stick with them. Let’s use what
we’ve learned about why resolutions fail and apply
it to a decorating resolution we can stick with.
Step 1. Make a plan.
If your resolution was to diet you would decide
how much weight you wanted to lose and then decide
how you’re going to accomplish it, we’ll do the same
with decorating. Sit down and write out everything
that isn’t working for you in the room. Whatever it
is, identify it, list its problems, and then make a
plan to fix it.
Step 2. Make it reasonable
Just like dieting, you need to make a decorating
plan reasonable enough that you will take it slow
and stick with it until the project is done without
becoming overwhelmed. So determine just how much
time and money you can afford to dedicate to each
step.
Step 3. Maintain your goal.
Try clipping your dream room or a really
organized room out of a magazine and put that on
your refrigerator? Then every time you eat, you will
feed yourself the energy you need to see your
project to completion.
