    Accessories Make a Bathroom Sing
    staging before and after

    Before

A bathroom is NOT just a bathroom!

The guest bathroom had great storage but needed to attract more attention to its features.

    After

Color and personality in minutes! Pulling accessories from other areas of the home, this eye catching space is every guest's fantasy bathroom.

    Create Your Summer Fantasy

Creating a summery look in your home is a fantastic way to re-style. Use your favorite memories to style your room. I remember the thrill when mom brought out the “summer clothes box” in late spring. Memories of summers past -- and promises of upcoming fun -- were as tangible as the tank tops, shorts, and swimsuits inside.

To start, make a “List of Summer.”

    My list would include:

    • White – the linens that wave in the summer breeze
    • Flip-flops – the color and the fun they represent
    • Seashells – nature’s keepsake from the sea
    • Sand – the memory of a favorite beach
    • Lemons – the citrus scent and taste of summer

I start by replacing heavy dressings with breezy whites, or perhaps colorful accessories find their way in. I can bring color to other areas of my home, like a vignette of sandals and beach towels in the hall bath, or a beautiful seascape with a hurricane vase filled with sand, shells and a candle the color of aqua. Lemons fill a glass pitcher by the sink, and to infuse the citrus cent throughout the room, I polish the sink with a couple squeezes of fresh lemon juice.

    Shower Curtain Rings as What??

Clip shower curtain rings together to form one long chain. Slide the top ring onto the bar in your closet or onto a hanger. You are now ready to hang belts, purses, ties, anything. By simply unclipping a ring you slide the handle of your purse into the ring and clip it back up.

BUT THEY HAVE THAT IN MODEL HOMES!
Often during a staging consultation it is suggested a child’s bedroom be painted a more neutral color or to pack all personal photographs. The homeowner or the Realtor usually asks why since they see it in model homes. Let me explain.

The builder is selling the floor plan of the model home and not that actual house. An individual homeowner is selling their house with whatever paint is on the walls.

The photos that are in a model home are there to make potential buyers envision a family, like the buyers living in the home. Those potential buyers still know than no one is actually living in this house and that this model home is not the actual house that they would be buying.

Model homes are staged but for a different purpose, the purpose of selling many houses with the same floor plan. Individual’s homes are staged for the purpose of selling that particular house faster and for more money.

    Interior Redesign Before and After
    bef and aft

Before/Challenge: This client was not sure how to incorporate their new warm colored sofa and area rug into their living room. They felt their room lacked harmony, cohesiveness, and comfort. There were several distractions which included too many unrelated accessories and a larger TV were competing for attention with the fireplace.

After/Solution: We discovered that these clients really enjoyed the fall warm colors. We decluttered this room, used better furniture placement and brought in the warm accessories to match their new sofa and area rug. The fireplace takes center stage as the focal point it deserves. This newly redesigned space became warm, inviting and beckons you in to relax and rest a while. These homeowners were thrilled and wondered if this really was their home after our redesign.

    Cookout with Coolness

Your family is coming for a cookout and you have a million things to do to get ready for it, and the last thing you want to think about is coordinating your paper plates to your serving dishes! Well, you can have your steak and eat it too.

    • Use those old clay pots you have in the shed to hold your utensils. They can also be used as candle holders for the table or to line the walkway.
    • Print some of your family photos you have stored on your computer onto sheets of paper to use for placemats.
    • Use old mason jars to serve iced tea.
    • A picnic basket opened up on the table can be the perfect way to arrange and display your paper goods (plates, cups, napkins.)
    • An old toolbox can be a neat way to house your condiments.
    • Fill a large glass hurricane filled with fresh lemons and limes, add water and bleach and it will stay fresh all day.
    • Display fresh cut flowers in old coffee cans or aluminum pails filled with water.
    • Use a large tin bucket filled with ice to hold soft drinks.
