Real Estate Staging
With their
beautiful home on the market four months,
with no serious offers, the homeowners were
contemplating reducing the price.
They switched realtors (who called us
in) and it sold within a few days!
Staging set them apart from the many
homes on the market and brought in a full
price offer immediately.

Before and After |
|
|
The homeowner
had grown tired of the antique look of this dining
room yet wanted to preserve the traditional feel.
She also wanted color on the walls instead of the
wallpaper and chose a vibrant red.
The accessories were competing with the still life
painting. A little editing was
needed to provide the proper balance.
The color, more red than the rose that appears in
the photo, balances the deep wood tones in the
furniture. The accessories were replaced with a
still life composition inspired by the painting.
The simple arrangement also leaves space for
serving that wasn't available before.
For those of you who have not experienced the
treasure hunt that takes place during a redesign,
this is often the most fun for the homeowners, other
than the Reveal.
Items were discovered that when pulled together
created a look that echoes the painting.
A floral arrangement would have been too much.
A footed compote filled with greenery,
combined with items that had meaning for the
homeowner, became the perfect composition. Why buy
something new when what you need just may be waiting
to be discovered in your own home?

Organizing |

Organization
with Black

One of my pet peeves is seeing dangling unsightly
black cords. If your entertainment
center is not large enough to house your TV, stereo
or DVD equipment there is nothing worse than seeing
dangling black cords after you have worked so hard
to arrange or redesign your room.
But there are some amazing things you can do with
cords. You can tie them or
secure them to the legs of your furniture with
plastic clear or black zip ties. What
about either painting the back of your unit or wall
a satin black? Another option is
to install black foam board or fabric and insert it
into the back of your unit. No
matter what you do, you can hide those black cords
with the color black.
Check out Organize.com and order some of the cool
gizmos you can buy to do some fancy cord
organization the next time you have a challenge with
your black cords.
Don't be afraid to get rid of those things.
You'll be glad you did!
