If you only want one holiday decorating
idea, this one is it. Add greens everywhere.
Greenery adds so much warmth and character
to any space like entryways, living rooms,
kitchens, and bathrooms. When I do redesigns
adding a tree or plant is the single most
dramatic change I make and it really wakes up a
room. And, adding greenery doesn't have to cost
you a single penny. Chances are if you go out in
your back yard you'll have everything you need
for a great wreath, garland, or even just a
little punch of green for your displays or your
mantel.
Cut some pine branches, arborvite branches,
or any other evergreen you have. Gather pine
cones, berries, nuts, twigs, or vines to add
interest to your greenery. Then all you need is
some wire or string to tie your branches
together.
Now look around your home. Do you have a
small collection of items like shells, bells,
thimbles, toys, or ornaments? Use these to add
to your greens for a festive holiday theme. So
far it hasn't cost a penny! Now add lights. Try
x-mas lights, candles, or even electric candle
sticks will draw your eye right to the area. And
finally, add some additional color with bows in
any color, style, or pattern that will
coordinate with your theme.
If you don't have the time or energy to use
greens all over your house then just pick one
area you want to use as a focal point and go all
out. Using this one, inexpensive decorating tip
will make your home feel festive, inviting, and
full of spirit.
